Vicky Park's Testimonial

When I first took the beginners tooth waxing class, I felt a bit lost and was afraid of making any mistakes as it was a completely new form of learning. However, by knowing I was able to follow such detailed directions successfully gave me the confidence to pass my learning to others. Through these classes I have also learned that I prefer building crowns over dentures maybe because I am still a novice and color coordination served as my training wheels.

I am a strong visual learner and using different colored wax through different steps of the process solidified the techniques in my memory. Using my strength I knew I was able to guide others to follow the colors and their corresponding shapes.

Working with dentures however was a bit more challenging. Using only one color of wax and angles becoming crucial in perfecting the product required a lot more precision. Attention to angles, arches, and apertures all at the same time was required making first timers like us a stressful challenge. Nevertheless, with practice I know that this too can become second nature in the future. And TA-ing gave me my first opportunity to practice and perfect my skills before entering dental school. As a Teacher’s Assistant who has completed all the courses offered by Vinmar Solutions I have a very high and in-depth opinion of these courses. There are no other pre-dental courses in the United States that offer this much exposure to dentistry. The reason for that is courses take a lot of time to develop, there are real, high-grade tools and materials involved, class size is small, and the courses are sponsored by the UCLA Continuing Education Dept. Additionally the courses are taught by Mr. Mark Hunt, who has previously taught at UCLA for 35 years. I witnessed serious students from all over Southern California and the U.S. travel to attend these courses. Having attended 2 junior colleges and a state school, all 3 academic advisors ordered me to attend the courses. If you are a serious applicant to a dental school and you have not attended any of these courses your application is lacking. The courses will expose you to techniques that you have not experienced before and give you a true self-assessment if you possess the necessary aptitude and dexterity for a career in dentistry.
